![]() daemon Newbie Posts: 1 Joined: Mon 10:25 pmįrom my part, dont want to hear (again) explanations from Illfonic, they were very clear (they must create a faq to end with the same questions over and over) I will prol post a constructive critism post regarding the console game once i read some more. this is friendly conversation, maybe a lil rant but more of a relization of why it happened. ![]() I might add more later, work is almost over There might have been a deal with the engine dev that any base mods needs to come back to the source version. I feel the opensource devs and community def didnt get a slice of the pie (i might be incorrect majority of this is all speculation).ĭoes the console version appeal to me? Being on the console doesnt but what happens to the game does, alot of the stuff they add will not be able to come back to the real version of nexuiz. This would also include the map makers that were included in the commerical release. Maybe there was a bonus in there for such, free game? free console? A good idea would be a percentage of the profits from the commerical sales. What about the other devs? From what ive read it looks as if they have been contacted and given up rights to what they contributed. We already know the owner and 1 major dev from here is being paid in 1 way or another. Now here is a thout that im not 100% sure on because i believe NDA's were in order for this transaction to happen. They gave time out of their lives to put into this. My biggest issue with this is, the work of so many devs that developed not only for the passion of the game, but also for it being opensource. Im not sure if there are opensource games on such platforms. The reason for closed source? Could be because of the console license. They turned this around quickly and have it ported over already. Unfortunatly this community is getting huge, especially with this type of game. Can be turned into a huge profit if done correctly. This allows for quick modification and additions as 90% of the work has already been done by the community. Huge user base, the name is well known (hense why they want the name more profit and initial sales) A game that has already met a maturity level of code so less work would be involved. There may be more to this story than what i have read but im going to maybe point this out from a commerical devs view. I feel for the community, All the dev's and map makers who have put so much time into this wonderful game feels like they have had the rug pulled out from under them. Being someoneone who has played this game is sad to see what looks to be a hostile takeover. This is not the first time or the last time we will see something like this, its just capitalism. and decided to just have a personal opinion.
